With the advent of the tourist season, Qingdao tourism has shown a strong attraction. As an important pole supporting the development of the tourism industry, tourism highways usher in a new period of development opportunities. The Highway Center of the Municipal Transportation Bureau recently held a research conference on the planning and construction of tourist roads, at which the overall planning framework for Qingdao’s tourist road corridors with “One Belt, One Axis and Three Rings” was determined.
Among them, the “one belt” refers to the coastal tourism highway, which connects the three bay groups of Jiaozhou Bay, Aoshan Bay and Lingshan Bay to create a core belt for coastal tourism. “One axis” is the Dagu River Ecological Highway, connecting Jiaozhou, Jimo, Pingdu, and Laixi to create an ecological leisure rural tourism development axis. The “Three Rings” are Zhushan-Zangmashan Tourist Ring Road, Dazeshan-Daqingshan Tourist Ring Road and Laoshan Mountain Tourist Ring Road. Relying on the three ecological sources of Laoshan, Zhushan and Dazeshan, the construction “Three Rings” tourist road network. Between the ring roads, the expressway is the main connection channel to form a “fast forward” system; within the ring road, the national and provincial trunk roads are the main roads, and the county and village roads are the branch lines, combined with the construction of leisure greenways, jointly form a “slow forward” system. “Travel” system constitutes Qingdao’s “fast forward and slow travel” tourist road system, and strives to create a “smooth, comfortable and beautiful” high-quality tourist road.
As a famous coastal tourist city, Qingdao has abundant tourism road resources. Relying on the most beautiful coastal tourist scenic road that runs through the coastline, National Highway 228 is designed in combination with the construction concept and standard specifications of tourist roads, coordinates with the landscape along the route, optimizes travel services, and builds self-driving camps, viewing nodes, image signs, etc. Supporting facilities, on the basis of improving road service functions, further develop coastal tourism resources. As the city’s most important mountain-sea city tourist scenic line and the only main passage for residents along the route, the Laoshan Scenic Tourist Road not only undertakes the traffic function, but also becomes one of the scenic spots for tourists to enjoy, which drives the development of tourism formats, and the popularity of self-driving tours and sightseeing tours soaring. In May of this year, in the promotion of “The Most Beautiful Scenery, the Road in Shandong” launched by the Shandong Provincial Department of Transportation, Hubin Road in Laixi City was rated as the “Most Beautiful Cycling Road”.
The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Transportation Bureau stated that taking the opportunity of the compilation of the tourist road planning, we will insist on integrated promotion, learn from the construction model of tourist roads in Weihai and other cities, comprehensively sort out the existing tourist road network, and fully tap the cultural heritage of the villages along the route. Maximize the driving and radiation effects along the line, promote the extension of the tourist road network to rural roads and expressways, build a distinctive “fast forward and slow travel” tourist transportation system, and speed up construction in combination with the implementation of new highway reconstruction, major and medium repair projects A tourist road network that runs through the entire region, has smooth connections, complete functions, and high-quality services. At the same time, deepen communication with the cultural and tourism departments, build smoother and more effective interconnection channels, promote the effective connection of transportation infrastructure with core scenic spots and tourism resources, build a new pattern of integrated development of transportation and tourism, and drive the transformation of rural road construction in the city Upgrade and improve the quality and efficiency of ordinary national and provincial roads.
